North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center
Mission Statement

The mission of the North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center is to develop and support programs and services that address the emotional and developmental needs of children, youth, and families whose functioning is - or is at risk of being - impaired due to psychological or environmental factors. Through creative partnerships we aim to build on the natural strength of families and communities in Nassau county. Our commitment to emotionally healthy children, families, and communities is met by:

Offering a broad base of diagnostic and treatment services including individual, group, and family therapy; parent counseling; crisis intervention; and case management.

  • Offering prevention services through a broad program of family life education.
  • Organizing a wide array of self-help support groups.
  • Being responsive to the needs of a culturally, socially, and economically diverse population.
  • Advocating for children through an active and well-informed Board of Directors, Association members, volunteers, clients, and professionals.
  • Anticipating and identifying emerging issues and launching innovative program responses.
  • Providing training and consultation services and educational materials to schools, day care centers, and other human services agencies and professionals.
  • Developing a body of research and literature on child development, family life, and community support issues.

The Center seeks to carry out this mission in a partnership with governmental agencies, foundations, contributions, fund-raising, and other sources of financial support.
