How Do I Get Started?

Call (516) 626-1971 and leave your name and best contact number with the receptionist. Your call will then be returned by an intake coordinator who will speak to you briefly about your concerns, obtain basic information (including your insurance company name and member ID number) and schedule an intake appointment.

 

What Time Of Day Are Intake Appointments?

Intake appointments generally take place in the morning between 10:00 and 11:00 am.

 

Can I Schedule More Than One Child For An Intake Appointment?

We will only schedule an intake for one child to start. Once that child attends their intake and is assigned to a clinician, the family can discuss their needs with the therapist. We do this to make sure each child receives a full evaluation and the family is able to receive the most efficient services.

 

Will My Therapy Be Covered By Health Insurance?

The Guidance Center accepts multiple health insurance plans. For further information, please inquire when making an intake appointment.

Do I Have A Copayment?

We check all insurance eligibility prior to intake appointments. If there is a problem, the billing department will contact you. Please contact your insurance company for information about your outpatient mental health coverage in regards to copayments and number of visits.

My Child Does Not Have Health Insurance, How Much Will It Cost?

Out-of-pocket cost of service is based on income and determined on a case-by-case basis. Proof of income is required.  No one is ever turned away for inability to pay.

Do You Have Spanish Speaking Therapists?

What Certifications Do Your Clinicians Have?

The therapists on staff have the following credentials: LCSW, LMSW, MSW, MHC, MHC Interns, and MSW interns. We also have psychologists and psychiatrists on staff.

Can My Child Attend Appointments With A Psychiatrist At The Guidance Center Without Receiving Therapy At The Guidance Center?

All clients of North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center must attend regular therapy at the Guidance Center in order to attend sessions with our psychiatrists.

Is Transportation Provided?

We do not provide transportation but families with Medicaid may be eligible for Medicaid transportation. Please contact your Medicaid caseworker for further information.

 

Do You Provide Psychological Testing?
We have psychologists on staff that do psychological, neuropsychological, educational and personality evaluations. In order to determine the necessity of an appropriate evaluation, you must schedule an intake appointment.
